This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covered classroom management and different techniques that can be used for effective teaching and maintaining a well-behaved classroom. I learned the different types of seating arrangements that can be used: rows, horseshoe and groups - and how the pros and cons to each based on classroom space as well. This unit covered something very important as well - teacher talk time and student talk time. It stresses the importance of making sure that students are involved in the classroom lesson so that they can get a better comprehension of it and to help keep things exciting. Maintaining discipline was another subject this unit taught, explaining that there are various factors that can lead to more or less classroom discipline such as age of students, motivation for learning, respect between teacher/student and other students, class size and principles of the school.
