This unit gives some of the most common problem situations that teachers can encounter in the classroom and also suggest ways of dealing with them. The problems can be a first lesson with a new group of students or existing group,a mixed ability group, large classes, students using their native languages in the class, reluctant students and difficulties with listening texts. Teachers will have to adopt a mix of the techniques to enable classes to progress smoothly.In this unit, I discovered how best to prepare the students for learning receptive skills in language. As with all other aspects of teaching the students must be not taking on too much too soon but be challenged by the activities enough to learn new skills. So when using texts or listening exercises I must be vary as to not overload them to discourage them and also if necessary pre teach certain vocabulary in order that they would be able to understand the article.
