This unit taught about modal auxiliary verbs, phrasal verbs, passive voice, and relative clauses. These linguistic concepts are used to add much more detail and specificity to speech. It teaches the forms of how to utilize the structures, as well as explains what the structures do for communication- namely that they are used to further describe things in more subtle ways. The unit then gives plenty of examples to help me understand all the myriad ways these are used. Speaking personally, things like passive voice and effective use of modals were linguistic concepts that were invaluable to me in preparing sophisticated and detailed work in my college days. The final thing I found invaluable in the lesson was the small but important point that I could always be learning more advanced grammar, and do more reading, to further hone my knowledge and be a better language teacher.
