This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 12 was about productive skills: speaking and writing. I have learned the difference between accuracy and fluency activities and which phase to implement them. I also learned some specific activities to implement for accuracy such as drilling and prompting. I also like the idea of incorporating games into the lesson plan to keep the students engaged, I also think using games may help the students remember the information because they are having fun and engaged. We need to incorporate four of the basic skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing as all are equally important to incorporate into our lessons. If we have an unbalanced approach, we often focus more on one particular skill, but all four basic skill have their own important, productive receptive skills. To be able to conduct good writing and listening skills to answer basic questions is important. To use all the skills above for a more balanced approach.
