This unit gives information on the different types of tests that are used in a language classroom and also the purpose of those tests. The various tests are, placement, progress, diagnostic and practice tests. Each one is used at a different phase of the language class to check the progress and proficiency of the students. Besides these the unit also discusses the various external exams offered for foreigners like TOEFL, IELTS, BEC, etc. by different organizations.Unit 15 provides an overview on the methods and reasons for evaluating a student's progress and language level to determine classroom placement and enhance the effectiveness of future lessons, the use of practise tests for external exam preparation and the types of external examinations. I have also learnt about the importance of feedback to students as it helps them understand the aspects in which they have room for improvement, leading to more effective learning.
