This unit focuses on pronunciation and phonology in the English language. It highlighted the use of intonations, stress, understanding the phonemic alphabets and symbols. It also explained the usage of certain body organs, in the effective pronunciation of words. I found this unit to be complex. Growing up, I have realized that english teachers did not spend adequate time on explaining phonology. I am not yet confident that i fully understand the unit but I will definitely return to study it again and again.From this unit, I learned about basic grammar concepts (from nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, etc). Parts of speech can be further classified into two or more types. For instance, verbs can be categorized into two, i.e. transitive and intransitive verbs. The unit explains thoroughly on each part of speech and can later be used when explaining to students. Examples on when to use each part of speech make it easier for future students to understand and apply them through writings and conversations in English.
