Unit 6 discussed the following past tenses: Past Simple, Past Continuous, Past Perfect, and Past Perfect Continuous. In great detail, the material covered form, usage, and common mistakes often made concerning each individual tense. In addition, teaching ideas for the activate stage were covered for each tense. The video portion for this unit was a great help to me; the combination of text and a visual spoken lecture made me differentiate between the different past tenses more easily.The materials and methods that teachers use are an important aspect of the lesson, and the teacher must take care to use the appropriate materials for their lesson. As the lesson mentions, materials such as course books come with their own strengths and weaknesses. They help provide much needed organization, and may even provide adequate supplementary materials. Unfortunately, they were generally made with a general audience in mind, and because of that, the teacher should be adaptable .
