Cours books are typically a point of a huge discussion. In my experience I always had them chosen by a school rather than tacher, so it was not an example of having any other alternative for teacher rather than being creative himself or helself. I think it is a pity not to add your own activities and rely only on the already planned course book syllabus. It does not seem to be enough for a good class for me. Moreover, it seems to me to be unprofessional.This unit explains the lesson planning, which every teacher should be prepared before they started their lesson. Planning is an important step as it could provide guidance and solutions when something happened. However, it is difficult to predict what would occur during a lesson and it takes time for new teacher to get experience on making lesson plans. New teachers could also ask for advice from those experienced teachers to prepared themselves as well.
