It continues to surprise me that things that are so ingrained and natural to me can actually be quite difficult to explain to others. I found this to be especially true in regards to the present perfect tense and explaining its usages. On top of that, we have the irregular verbs that have no set rules and need to be learned entirely from memory. i can see how all these different tenses, rules, and lack of rules would be very hard for a student to learn and was very appreciative of the the common mistakes/errors section. Not only that but the sample activate stage teaching ideas took something potentially complicated and broke it down into something fun. Overall, I found the chapter to be eye opening in a sense that I now know that not all languages have this many tenses. With this information, I can be more understanding, patient and effective in my teaching of these tenses.
