This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This is another grammar point that I must master before I go on to teach. To recap, past simple is the most simple form to comprehend. It is simply a subject plus the past tense of a verb (e.g. I drank water, I swam). Past continuous is the -ing form of the verb, but in the past (e.g. I was drinking water, I was swimming). It represents an action that happened at a specific time (sometimes unmentioned) that probably continued after that time. Past perfect is a bit more difficult to grasp, but it is essentially the most past a verb can get in a sentence. For example, in the sentence 'She told me she had burned the food,' the word \"told\" is past tense, but the verb \"burned\" happened before that. So it is the action that happened furthest back. Past perfect continuous is not commonly used in English, but it is the 'had been -ing' form which is sometimes used in storytelling.
