The main things I have picked up from this unit are the official names of these tests that non-native English speakers take in order to officially be recognized as being able to use the language within perhaps a work or study environment for example. A little confusing as to whether diagnostic or placement tests most appropriate time to be implemented should be, but I do realize that certain contexts would have to be taking into account such as the school the teacher is working for, and the number of students or the timeframe of such course work within the class.I learned about the basic keys to successful productive skills lessons and that was really beneficial. I learned about the differences between accuracy and fluency activities. I learned about different kinds of speaking activities such as guided activities, controlled activities and creative communication activities. I learned about the techniques to encourage interaction and the guidelines for a free speaking activity. I learned about the factors that should be incorporated and considered in writing lessons such as penmanship, spelling, layout and punctuation.
