This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 4 was the most complicated chapter thus far. I understand the necessity of it because I plan to teach in Thailand where there is only one tense, so having knowledge that English has 12 tenses gives me more insight into why my students may not understand how to form a sentence with proper English grammar. With patience and empathy I can encourage my students to form sentences with the various present tenses, understanding that their language is completely different rather than wrong.Verb tenses are some of the most complicated parts of learning a new language. Different languages have different varieties and complexities of verb tenses. English has three tenses which are present, past and future. Within the present tense, there are four different variations which include present simple, present continuous, present perfect and present perfect continuous. Giving students opportunities to learn all of these verb tenses will help them become successful English speakers.
