Unit 13 was about course books, authentic material and related material. It was interesting learning about the course book, and learning about how much flexibility the teacher has with it (which I liked). I learned that is is important to follow the course book, however it islets to adapt and accomedate to individual student needs as well as the class as a whole, so modifying a few plans as the teacher is ok as long as it is for the greater good of the class!Assessment and evaluation has many benefits and purposes. Assessment and evaluation to be useful to place students in the correct level, to monitor progress of students, to prepare students for external examination, and to help teachers prepare lessons and course structure. There are many external English speaking qualifications which serve different purposes. It is important to teach geared to these if students are preparing for a certain test. (IETLS, ESOL)
