This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 7 covers teaching a new language, specifically vocabulary, grammar, and functions.
I?ve learned that there are four things that students need to do with new languages. This includes being exposed to it, understanding it?s meaning, understanding how it?s constructed, and being able to practice and produce it. I also learned what students will need to know about vocabulary items. This includes the vocabulary?s meaning, usage, spelling, interaction, word grammar (where it belongs), and pronunciation.Under the section that talks about tasks, it says we should select tasks that promote understanding rather than just check understanding. An example would be helpful here. I'm only guessing that we mean, \"pick something they would WANT to understand?\" Also, I was expecting something to follow the section detailing the different types of reading, that would be useful in creating a lesson plan. Is the idea then, to choose tasks from each of the five listed \"types?\" Predictive skills, scanning, skimming, etc?
