This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This was the first time I was introduced to the Phonemic Alphabet. Of course, I've seen it in dictionaries before, but I never paid much attention to it. I'm going to study hard to understand the phonemic chart so I can teach it to my students. I think for students, in the long run, this is an excellent way to learn new words. They only have to open up their dictionaries to know how to pronounce every single word. For me, as a non-native English speaker, this is unbelievably useful. The unit introduced the receptive skills in general. It gave a gist of what the skills are and introduced how to approached them and improve them. Though this both skills of reading and listening are targeted to improve the learners receptive mind, they require different tasks from time to time. And thus, it would have been more useful if the unit targeted those skills separately introducing the difficulties of dealing with each one and how to manage them and improve the perception.
