The separation of tenses is an interesting fact brought up in this lesson. The idea of 12 tenses as opposed to the 3 standards tenses that we refer to was a fact I hadn't been fully aware of. In addition, it was also very interesting to see how predictable some mistakes from non English speakers would be.
The major things that I tend to learn from these grammar units are the actual rules. I'm already familiar enough with the language to properly utilize them, but teaching these rules is a completely different endeavor entirely.In this unit the grammar form of conditionals and reported speech were presented with various rules and techniques on how to teach these topics. There five conditional forms in the English language are zero, first, second, third, and mixed. Their usage and structure vary with the exception of the use of if/when and a given condition/consequence. The most interesting teaching strategy that I found in this unit is the role playing lesson because it appears to be something very fun that the students would be eager to participate in.
