This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 20 covered how to troubelshoot common problems that a teacher might experience. It covered how to conduct the first lesson, and it gave examples of warmers that can be used to motivate students at the beginning of class. It also discussed common problems that can arise due to large class size, students' using their native language in class instead of English, how to help reluctant students, and how to troubleshoot when students are havein difficulty with listening texts. I think that one of the most important topics that were discussed is how to teach students that have different levels of language skills. Even though students will probably be grouped together according to their relative language level, there will always be some variation in the speeds at which individual students will learn. Knowing how to keep the class interesting for all students is a very valuable skill.
