In this unit we learn how to evaluate students and the ways of how to assess a student’s language level with: tutorials, tests and evaluations by the students. Giving a test can fall into: placement tests, progress tests, diagnostic tests, practice tests, Cambridge Assessments and general external exams. When doing a placement test we are testing where we should place the new students in accordance to their language ability. Progress tests should periodically be used to see what language has been remembered and what needs more work done. We can use diagnostic tests at the start of a course to see what students might already know so we can prepare adequate lessons and materials for them. Practice test are used to structure practice test for an exam. General external exams are: TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC. The Cambridge Assessment exams are leading certificates for learners of English.
