This unit emphasized positive reinforcement as the best means of giving feedback. It was stated that giving too much feedback too critically could dampen enthusiasm and discourage students from taking risks. As someone who is currently an assistant teacher, I have found myself naturally using the ESA method. It was very helpful learning about Patchwork and Boomerang style ESA lessons. When changing the order and style of the ESA method, it is said that students will be more engaged and lessons will remain fresh. Various activity ideas were covered for the Engage Stage, such as Scattegories. I think these will be useful because it will get students excited about the upcoming lesson. One thing the unit emphasized that I will need to focus on is trying to let the students learn for themselves more and interrupt less. This will encourage student self-discovery and independent learning.
