This unit taught me how to better review outside or \"authentic\" materials when considering whether or not to use them in the classroom. Similarly, this unit revealed some of the problems associated with using course material. Some of those being that the course material may be non-topical and uninteresting to the students. Conversely, authentic materials may be too difficult or easy for the students, or may require additional material to accompany them.What I gathered from this unit is that the more variety a teacher uses in teaching aids, the more stimulating the class material is for the student. Without this diversity, one is forced to only rely on the aid of a course text book. Only using a text book makes for a pretty boring classroom. In my opinion, the surge of readily available technology in the last few years, including smartphones, has made both the teacher and student's job incredibly easier.
