This was an enjoyable unit- highly practical and useful. I will find the vast range of resources specified in this unit to be a great help with my lessons in the future. Overall, I think looking back on the resources we use in the classroom was helpful to simply reflect on how they actually aid learning. We can forget or take for granted artefacts around the school that we are constantly in contact with. This unit identifies different resources that we might not think to use but could actually be of great value, such as an OHP.Vocabulary, grammar and functions are the main components to teach students when teaching a new language. We can apply different ESA approach to target different kinds of lessons. For example, the ?straight arrow? ESA approach is commonly targeted to grammar or vocabulary-based lessons, whereas functions-based lessons are more commonly approached with ?boomerang? or ?patchwork? ESA structures. It made me realise that appropriate structure of a lesson is very important in order to teach the language more effectively.
