The language consists of vocabulary, grammar and functions. From the study i understood that there are four things students need to do with the new language, these are; exposed to it, know the meaning and how it is constructed and be able to practice and produce it.
For effective teaching we can also apply ESA methods to introduce new language, with varied ESA for grammar, vocabulary and functions as it deems fit. For example typical 'straight arrow' structured ESA vocabulary lesson, typical ESA patchwork grammar lesson, and typical ESA boomerang function lesson.This unit is really amazing as you can actually see a good example of good teaching and a bad one. Its really rewarding to see your self to be able to recognize so many mistakes that the first video has. I think, one of the most important factors of good lesson is the big smile that the teacher gives to his student in the beginning of the class. Its amazing to see the huge impact that it has and how it can instantly break the ice.Also, i now see the importance of the engage phase and what a great tool is your gestures,voice and eyes. I really enjoyed this lesson.
