This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was the most difficult grammar review for me. In this unit, we learned about the modal auxiliary verbs and the rules for when to use each of them. I found the chart to be very handy and helpful. We also learned about the passive voice and how it differs from the active voice, their forms and usage. There are three relative clauses, the independent, dependent, and relative. The most difficult for me was the phrasal verbs, and how to distinguish between the intransitive, transitive separable and transitive inseparable. This unit gave a structural classification of all parts of speech. It further more gave examples of different parts of speech and how they act in a sentence. It is important for a teacher to show the students how to recognize and identify different types of words in a sentence in order to better understand grammar and to learn how to use the right word form in the right place. Knowing parts of speech for any student is like having all the building blocks to form a correct sentence and to succeed in speaking and writing in English.
