We looked at different groups to whom we could be teaching English as a foreign language. We examined techniques we can use for each group, their specific needs and activities that can be done with them. I especially appreciated the section on young learners. I enjoy children very much because of their inquisitive mind and playful nature. I think it would be a rewarding experience to work with them. As the lesson explained, children's attention span is limited so it would be challenging and interesting to create lessons using my imagination to make it fun for them.There are four things that the student needs to do with new language, be exposed to it, understand its meaning, understand how its constructing, be able to practise and produce it. We can easily apply our ESA method to introduce new language, lessons that are specifically targeted to grammar or vocabulary commonly using the straight arrow ESA approach, patchwork approach, boomerang approach. An effective teacher will think about which structure is most appropriate to the class and to the language that will be introduced. Students need to work collectively in role play.
