This unit reviewed present tense verbs and common mistakes students make when learning them. I can sympathize with them after going through this lesson. I learned some activities I can do in the \"activate\" part of my lessons to help them understand when they need to use certain forms of present verbs. Though I don't think it is necessary to teach them the names such as \"present perfect\" or \"present perfect continuous\" as they trip up native speakers who can properly construct coherent sentences.Accuracy and fluency based activities are the basis of teaching productive language skills. In accuracy based activities drilling and promoting is generally controlled by the teacher. Fluency based activities involve free role play, communication and debate, all not strictly controlled by the teacher. Students can be convinced to practice speaking with group work, pair work and guided activities. Writing skills are also important at this stage, and handwriting, spelling and layout should be evaluated.
