This unit covered lesson planning, a very important skill for teachers to have. Lesson planning is a skill that can be improved only with practice. A new teacher should put a lot of time and effort into their lesson plans because, unlike more experienced teachers, they are less capable of anticipating every possible outcome during a lesson. A lesson plan includes the learner goals that the teacher wants the students to achieve by the end of the class, the teacher's personal goals to improve their teaching, and anticipated problems that could arise for each of these goals. Using these four pieces of information, the teacher should create a general procedure for the class that includes an estimation of the time each activity will take and what types of interaction each activity will include. The teacher's lesson plan should be simple and clear so they can refer back to it during class.
