This unit covers teaching techniques for specialized groups of English language learners. I have learned that beyond adult students of general English, English language learners can be young, beginners (absolute, false, adult, young, and beginner without the Roman alphabet), individuals/one-on-one, business students, and specific purpose students. I have also learned that each specialized group of students require different teaching skills and techniques, have different student/teacher expectations, and encounter different problems/solutions in and out of the classroom.A very good resource on the different conditionals in English. Seeing the list of conditionals side by side it's easy to see the difficulties encountered by English learners, and I have already thought of some ideas of how to use this information in the classroom to give the students a clearer understanding. On the subject of reported speech it seems to be a very complex area of English grammar, especially those whose native language does not require changing tense while reported speech such as Chinese. Hopefully the information in this unit can be of use in the future.
