Unit 9:Lesson Planning
This unit covers the basic principles of lesson planning.
I found this unit very useful to me as a teacher because of the following reasons:
This unit explains the reasons, importance and functions of lesson plans to the teacher and the students.
It also enumerates what should be included in a lesson plan in order to avoid unnecessary/ unimportant items when planning our lessons as a teacher.
Last but not the least, from this unit I discover how to produce lesson plan that is practical and easy to use in the classroom. This unit focused on the productive skills; speaking and writing. These are basically the communication part of language teaching, and hence focus on student output. There are two ways to approach productive skills. You can either strive for fluency or accuracy. One finds that in the study stage of most lessons, that is when the teacher will focus on accuracy. The engage stage is where the student gets to be creative, and use what they have learned to create their own output. Hear fluency is encouraged, particularly when doing speaking exercises.
