This unit was a little more intense than some of the others. Modal auxiliary verbs are used for obligstions, possibilities/probability, permission/prohibition, ability, and advice. Some of the best ways to teach modal auxiliary verbs is through role-play, rules, and signs. There are two types of voices in English, which include active and passive voice. One of the errors that is made is leaving the verb to be out of a sentence. There are three types of phrasal verbs: intransitive, transitive separable, and transitive inseparable.This unit is similar to Unit 4 as they are both about tenses. Likewise, past tenses include past simple, past continuous, past perfect and past perfect continuous tense. Its structure is not too far from the present ones. However, differences from present tenses should be focused on when teaching this unit and the biggest difficulty, as far as I'm concerned, is regular vs irregular verbs beacuse it needs memorizing a lot. In addition, distinguishing between present and past tenses is also of importance once this unit is acquired.
