There are different methods for evalation and testing students. Placement tests are usually given to students in order to know what level they are and where they can be placed. Progress tests are given to students throughout the year in order to record their progress. Diagnosis tests gives teachers an opportunity to test their students before they come into class. It isuseful when we want to know what knowledge the student already has. Practise tests are given in order to prepare for external tests, such as TOEFL,IELTS etc.In this unit we look into the present tense, looking specifically at present simple, present continuous, present perfect, and present perfect continuous. For each tense we look at the forms (affirmative, negative, and question), the usage, typical mistakes and errors made by English language learners, and some teaching ideas for the activate stage. I knew of the types of tenses but seeing the typical mistakes and teaching ideas will greatly benefit my teaching and ability to differentiate between the types of present tense.
