This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
I think what I learned most in this section is that there is a key difference between an error and a mistake and when an error occurs it takes considerable skill, and perhaps knowledge of the student to ascertain why they have made that particular error. Is it that they think they are correct or that they know it is wrong but are just trying to achieve language flow? Mistakes should also be corrected by the student themselves if possible, which means I might have to slow down, because generally when there is a mistake and a pause, I'll jump on it.This unit was about teaching new language such as vocabulary, grammar, and language functions. This was my first time hearing about language functions. The unit taught me what students need to know about new vocabulary and new grammar structures. I learned that certain lesson plans are more appropriate than others when introducing new vocabulary, new grammar structures, & functions. I really liked that sample activities were given for each stage in the lesson. I found the sample lesson plans to be some of the most helpful sections in the unit.
