This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
What I learned from this unit was what it looks like to put the lesson plans into action, seeing how a teacher gets creative in getting the students to participate instead of simply lecturing. It also showed how each phase of the lesson can flow into each other, as well as how he was able to be firm and kind about moving into the next phase of the lesson. In a way, it also gave me hope in the sense that I know my future lessons can't go as poorly as the first video. This was definitely the most challenging unit yet, and a topic I hadn't given much thought to before. I took a Spanish linguistics class once but that is all the prior knowledge I had, and it's never something I had applied when thinking about my maternal language. It is a topic I will have to study more to get a better grasp of. I did enjoy the section about linking words and realized how difficult it must be for non native speakers to understand English sometimes.
