Unit 7 outlined several necessary pieces of information well, including how teachers should select which vocabulary, language structures, and functions to teach. I especially found helpful the many activities listed below each section of Engage, Study, and Activate. Looking back on some lessons that I have taught in the past, I now understand why certain ones were more or less effective than others. I plan to use the information provided in this unit to improve my lesson planning.Being a native English speaker, you don't think about all the different tenses and how to use them or what they're called. This chapter was a bit difficult, because having to really think about what you're saying and which present tense it is in can be quite challenging! There are quite a few tenses that are similar, and so remembering and deciphering which is which AND teaching them to non-English speakers will be a challenge! But as with anything learned, practice makes perfect.
