This unit covers various aspects of productive skills - speaking and writing. Accuracy and fluency are discussed with details regarding how they should be focused on different phases of a lesson. As noted in the textbook, accuracy should be focused during controlled activities such as drilling. On the other hand, fluency becomes the number one priority when the students are involved in a creative communication such as debates and free discussions. In these fluency based activities, corrections for accuracy will halt the flow of the activities.This unit explains theories, methods and techniques in teaching the English language. To my mind, it has been very useful unit for me personally, since it gives clear and detailed teaching method examples and many useful different ideas for activities in lesson planning.
I quite liked the advice about when and how to correct students and also how to make them interested in learning from the beginning of the lesson. I understood well that engagement at the beginning of the lesson is very important in success of further stages of study and activate.
