This unit deal with the importance of speaking and writing in the English language. This unit distinguishes between accuracy and fluency when it comes to speaking and writing. I have learned that there is certain times during a lesson where accuracy should enjoy preference and certain times where fluency should enjoy preference. Typically in the study phase a emphasis should be given to accuracy, where fluency should should be more important in the activation phase.This unit focused on the productive skills of writing and speaking. Being equally important, teachers should seek to help their students with both accuracy and fluency. Accuracy is generally dealt with in the Study stages, while fluency in the Activate stages. Teachers should do less correcting within the Activity stage, since the focus is fluency stimulated by creativity. The unit also discussed the importance of games and why these can be helpful in the classroom.
