There is not a definite 'yes' or 'no' answer to whether a particular teaching approach is the best for students. Teachers can take the pros from different pedagogies, integrate and apply them in their teaching, so to suit the needs of their students. In terms of modern teaching, the 'student centred' approach is more advocated and that teachers act more as a facilitator in their learning progress, while giving appropriate guidance or prompts where necessary. As a result, students get more chances in discovering the language for themselves and hence can learn the language genuinely.As a teacher, we all have a course book, we all know how to use it but what we need to realize is how to use ia appropriately. We need to be flexible, the lesson plan shoule be based on the level as well as the nationality of students. Course book is a good reference, but we can't fully rely on it, we need to be creative, to make the class with our own style. Sometimes, for high level students, we can use some authentic materials to make fun in the class, by which the students can feel interesting and also be confident about themselves, which is a good way to combine study and fun.
