Unit number 19 covers theories, methods and teaching techniques. The unit goes into more detail about these topics and how they are applied to teaching different types of English students. English learners vary in lots of ways including age, culture, motivation, and their English levels. I found it interesting that most business English learners have a basic knowledge of English revolving around their profession, however they tend to lack very basic English phrases.This unit is about the two production skills, reading and listening. We first look at the reasons and motives, then how we read and listen, then problems that can arise and how to combat those effectively, then we have examples of materials and how we could use them in a lesson to teach the two production skills. I learnt specifically the difference between scanning and skimming, scanning is to find specific information but skimming is reading to get a general idea.
