In Unit 5 we covered the importance of lesson planning and examined some templates and techniques for planning a lesson. The sample lesson materials are very helpful and will help to inspire me to create my own material for my classes in the future. The lesson planning template is also very helpful and interesting as a guide for my own planning. I like that it includes the learning aims and personal objectives for the class, in addition to anticipating potential difficulties so that I can be prepared.This unit outlines the importance of planning lessons, as this gives structure to the lesson flow. Planning will prove the execution of the tasks at hand and ensure that the ultimate aim of the lesson is achieved. Although planning is key it was also emphasized that it may create rigidness in the classroom, hence teachers need to leave room for flexibility for the students. I have learnt that planning is key but also customizing the plan is also very important so as to cater to the needs of the students.
