This unit introduced theories, method and techniques used to teach English as a foreign language. The unit first covered multiple theories behind the approach to teaching English and what each theory entailed while noting that while not one methodology is best, as long as the teacher is attentive to their student's needs and understand the basis for English language learners, then they will be successful with their methodology. The unit then introduces a variety of \"ESA\" (Engage, Study, Activate) lesson formats that aids in structuring any lesson. Following any of the formats like \"boomerang\" or \"Patchwork\" will be crucial in helping my students learn a new language.While all three steps are crucial to the lesson, to me the \"engage\" portion is the deciding factor on whether or not your students will learn from you. Real learning can not be accomplished without active engagement.
