This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In Unit #15, we learned about the importance of testing students to measure their skills in English as well as the different ways to do so. This unit covered several different types of tests, stressing what made each unique even though they all strove to do the same thing (reflect a student's mastery of the English language). I particularly liked the sample placement test, as I think it will prove useful to me in the future if I were to ever be in need of gauging a particular students ability. The two contrasting video lessons show that a teacher's teaching ability and attitude has a profound impact on student progress. In the first video, students are intimidated by the instructor and therefore participated less. The instructor did not provide clear explanation of the central concept (auxiliary verbs), causing confusion. The instructor in the second video has a positive attitude and use ESA to plan his lessons. His method is very engaging and students seem satisfied with the class.
