Conditionals are sentences containing an \"if\" in one clause, and a result in the other clause. The zero conditional is about a fact that is certain to happen under the right conditions. The first conditional is about something that could happen, or even is likely to happen. The second, third, and mixed conditionals about about fantasies, or hypotheses about what the past or present might look like if things had been different.
Reported speech is what happens when you try to convey a dialogue without directly quoting that dialogue. In the process, you need to backstep, changing the perspective of the dialogue. Pronouns change to suit who is involved in the current discussion. Time expression changes to suit the present time situation. Verb tenses change from present to past, or from past to past perfect, past continuous to past perfect continuous, or from \"will\" to \"would\".
