This unit on classroom management gave me some new understandings of the different aspects involved. I appreciated the comments regarding Teacher Talking Time and Student Talking Time. It is easy for me to do the majority of the talking and let the students talk only in response to an activity or lesson. The suggestions of how to establish rapport and class spirit will be important to remember. A lot of the suggestions require thoughtful consideration of the class members.Receptive skills are a very important aspect of language. Not only are there reasons for using these skills, but there are different approaches to it too. I think it is very important for students to be able to read and listen English with confidence as this will assist them in any conversation that they may have. If they are unable to listen to others, then they will not be able to communicate and if they are unable to read, then they may be unable to follow instructions.
