I was able to learn a lot of information regarding evaluation and assessment in this unit. For example, I learned that Practice tests are often used for external exams and that the diagnostic tests can provide teachers with information regarding future lessons. I also learned that continual assessment is the most effective way to constantly monitor student progress. In addition, I learned that immigrants that move to Britain from other countries can take the Cambridge English Certificate in ESOL Skills for Life.This unit talks about assessment and testing. Assessment can be made through group or individual tutorials or though student evaluations. The purpose of assessments is to monitor the students' progress, identify individual student's strength and weakness, raise the students' awareness of what's happening, and receive feedback on how the students are reacting to the course.
I also learned the purpose and features of some common external English tests such as the TEFL, IETLS, TOEIC and the Cambridge Assessments.
