This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The topic of the unit is teaching pronunciation and phonology and it was so far the most difficult topic because I have never studied it so deeply, I always trusted my intuition. I leant a lot from the content however I must read it couple of times more to feel really comfortable to teach it to students. Also I understood that I have to prepare and test some activities to be able to teach this topic. Hopefully practice will do the job and in no time I will find out the best way for me and the students to make the difficult easy and understandable. This unit helps to bring the structure of our language into a more structured awareness. As Native English speakers, we learn a lot of our language from context through the years and can see when grammar is not used properly. However, this does not mean we see the structure underlying why the grammar is improper.
This unit helps show how our language is actually structured even with its variables in many word usages and forms. This unit helped me see that and helped me see how hard it can be to get one's head around all the aspects of grammar.
