The content of Unit 11 discuses what the receptive skills are and how we use them in every day life. The unit explains how a teacher can teach receptive skills by choosing appropriate reading and listening material for the students. Unit 11 also gives a sample of an ESA lesson that a teacher could use to teach students how to use their receptive skills when reading information. From this unit I learned the different ways a person uses receptive skills, and how to to create a ESA lesson plan using receptive skills as the language point to be taught.From this unit I have observed and learned from effective and ineffective ways of using engaging, activating and studying in a classroom. It is certainly best to smile and appear approachable and understanding. I do not want student to be scared or intimidated. This would hinder learning. The two videos displayed how the instructors attitude can effect the class' performance. Including drawing in the lesson can help get students excited and interested in the lesson. Fun activities like that are great to add to lessons, because they engage students.
