This unit looked at the variety of resources a teacher can use in the classroom. This includes materials and technologies that are available and how to use them to improve a lesson.

This unit was helpful in overall suggestions for the technologies and materials we can use in the lessons. I often wondered why some teachers would struggle if the OHP was not working on a day and now I know it is always integral to have a back up plan in place should technology ever fail you!I was not fortunate to choose the course book at my school, and that?s somewhat understandable considering I?m only an ALT and I didn?t have any teaching experience prior to teaching here. One thing I?m allowed to do (sometimes) is to omit/replace/supplement/adapt certain lessons from the textbook. I find this is beneficial to the students because otherwise they spend too much time working from the textbook. Generally, I like to supplement writing lessons and omit or replace speaking lessons. I think out textbook is not well-rounded when introducing speaking examples.
