Teaching Pronunciation and Phonology - Effective teachers teaches pronunciation as integral to the course. Phonology is the study, science, analysis and the classification of the physical properties of sounds. In this unit I learnt how to teach stress, rhythm and intonation.
Intonation is generally the variation in volume and pitch where as stress in concerned with individual words. Techniques to teach intonation; Nonsense words, by gesture, humming or singing, the board.
Techniques to teach stress; By gesture, choral work, the board, stress marks.This unit covers the future tenses in the English language - Future Simple, Future Continuous, Future Perfect, Future Perfect Continuous, \"Going to\" future and Present Simple and Present Continuous used for talking about future events. Each tense is explored in terms of its structure, usages and typical student errors. Teaching ideas and examples for the activate stage are given for each tense. I was familiar with the grammatical part of this unit, though it was still a good structured reminder. Teaching ideas is what I gained most from this unit.
