Unit 20 summarized many different scenarios where an English teacher may encounter problems (behavioral and English ability) that hinders his or her ability to accurately teach students of any age. I believe this unit to be the most important of the course simply because these are problems every teacher will face at some time and knowing how to combat them is critical to student success in the classroom. Knowing how to establish rapport with my students makes them more comfortable in the classroom and confident in my knowledge; not all classes will be small so knowing techniques to teach large groups ensures everyone is learning at a similar pace; finally, English is a quick, varied, and complex language - making listening comprehension difficult - but it is essential to acquisition. Knowing some simple solutions to these common problems instills confidence in me to face these obstacles.
