I liked that this lesson had so many ideas for activities to introduce and solidify new concepts in both vocabulary and grammar. Again, this will be a great chapter to turn back to for ideas in future lesson planning. My favorite part of the chapter was the part toward the end on teaching language functions. My default way of thinking about language acquisition is vocabulary and grammar, but functionality is ultimately the end goal. The acquired vocabulary and grammar are only useful if they can be applied in meaningful contexts and situations. In addition, different everyday situations will have many specialized words and set phrases that may not come up in a traditional lexical or grammatical study. For example, think about ordering food: we generally say \"I will have...\" or \"Could I get...\" to begin our order. But rarely would we start a sentence that way in a normal conversation.
