This unit presents how to develop a course for young learners. The ability of the young learners to use the language should be tested with a test level, followed by a needs analysis to know their previous learning experiences, what they will use English for and what they believe would be the most beneficial study areas to be covered. There are some limiting factors to course development, as some schools have already decided about the course content and structure, or there may be some time constraints, limited resources or cultural issues. Sometimes teachers have to create a syllabus and even though there are many different theories on the subject, this unit provides useful tips to design one. Finally, it is not only important to access the students, as it allows teachers to measure the efficacy of their programs and students to check their progress, but also to evaluate the course itself.
